This Light-Art installation originates from a profound exploration of movement, light’s impact on various materials, and an analysis of light’s physical essence in shaping sculptural installations. It presents itself as a versatile and pluralistic proposal, integrating concepts of perception and thought structures through the interplay of light, materials, and space.
At its core, the project thrives on the dynamic dialogue between light and space. It delves into the physicality of light as an object, showcasing how it can induce manifold modifications and alterations in space, some tangible and others shaped by perceptual nuances. The installation raises inquiries about the tangible and intangible, presence and absence, the fleeting and enduring—embracing the inherent paradoxes that often underpin art.

Echoing Berkeley’s maxim, “Esse est percipi,” the exhibition underscores the idea that the subject comes into existence through perception. The uncertain imagery creates ephemeral landscapes, inviting spectators to recognize themselves as integral components of the installation. It entices us to explore the elusive poetics of light, a substance whose meaning emerges amidst modulations and reflections.
This journey facilitates a reflective immersion into light, space, and time. Drawing inspiration from Ernest Hemingway’s analogy of a good story being like an iceberg, where what lies beneath the surface adds intensity and mystery to what is visible, the project amplifies the nuances of light, reflections, and transparencies, enhancing the representation of the visible elements.

The proposed site serves a dual purpose, offering distinct analyses through light in both day and night settings. Despite sharing parameters, these scenarios provide two unique sensory and perceptual experiences.
A rectangular container, clad in polished stainless steel with a mirror patina, visually integrates with the surroundings, challenging perception with illusory effects. It invites spectators to partake in new sensory expectations, with the landscape transforming as one moves through space. The distant spectator becomes inherent in the experience, reflected on the container’s surface, strengthening the relationship between subject and object.
Featuring entrances on opposite sides, the container leads to a small dark room covered in the same material. Inside, an installation of 44 lights with corresponding beams follows a choreographed sequence, creating a transformative perception of space. The lights’ modulation is docile and contemplative, facilitating space inspection while introducing moments of uncertainty and surprise, particularly during twilight.
Conversely, exiting the dark room results in a spatial dilation, expanding into an apparently infinite dimension. The stage, lights, and subjects multiply, resembling the vast expanse of an immeasurable hangar. The space undergoes dynamic transformations through the lights’ ON & OFF cycles, synchronizing with the movement of bodies and other subjects. Interaction is inevitable.
